Prankster has been on my wishlist since it’s launch and finally I visited this beautiful campus over a weekend along with a group of friends. This is an amazing place with a huge area aligned to the campus theme where one can find chemistry lab, canteen, library, hostel area and whatever you think of within a college campus. Taking you back to the college days, this spot gives you the nostalgic feeling and one can very well relate it to the good old days by looking at their quirky artwork. Perfectly done interiors along with the lip smacking food makes this place a leader in the Gurgaon F&B market.
As soon as you enter to this restaurant, you will see a horse hanging upside down on the ceiling and from here the pranks begin. Upon moving forward to the 1st floor, you will see a shutter on the left side and few doors alongside a narrow lane which opens up to this huge place. So the pranks will continue as you will move forward (even some surprises in their menu 🙂 ).
Their campus theme is very impressive and the lively aura adds charm to this place where one can look around to the artistic work done by the designer in each section of this campus cum restaurant. Chef Harangad Singh has done a mind blowing job in curating the innovative menu for Prankster. We began with the Nitro Cooked Dahi Bhalla served with roomali sev and papdi which was actually a prank as the dahi bhalla was chilled (as it was cooked with nitrogen), But the taste was mind blowing. We tried Sambhar Cappuccino with Dosai Crisp which was fantastic. The sambhar was served in the cup along with the paper thin crispy dosai. The sambhar had the perfect hint of the spices which was a lovely twist to this traditional south indian preparation. Loved it.
Next comes the Pao Bhaji Zinker served with marathi garlic crumbs which was actually a vada pao (again a prank) served with fried green chilies and mumbai’s famous garlic chutney. Taste was mind blowing and the presentation was lovely.
Kick Ass Honey Chilli Potato had a twist as it had the mashed potatoes stuffed inside the fries (which were actually huge in size).
Fattirs (Egyptian Pizza) was next on the table. Flaky mix meat pizza which was actually a combination of Chicken tikka, meatball and keema boti was fabulous. The base was more like a soft patty and it was flawless in flavors. Damn good pizza I must say.
Imly Glazed Kung Pao Chicken topped with coconut foam was delectable. The presentation was awesome and the perfectly done pieces of chicken were very appealing.
Tender Tandoori Lamb Chops were the pick of the day for me. The mutton pieces were so tender that these were just melting on the plate (not even on the tongue :)). The spices had the perfect blend and the aroma was saying it all.
The snacks were accompanied by the refreshing drinks and I will definitely name these here.
â—† Garmi Me Sardi Ka Ehsaas – The amazing whiskey based cocktail which had ginger, honey and lime juice topped with sprite was very well presented. The taste was perfect with the balance of all the ingredients.
â—† Masala Chai Sour – If you love the spice based cocktails, then you are going to love this. Beautifully presented in a cup along with the Indian spices. The flavor was fantastic and the spices were mixed so well that these were complementing well with the whisky.
In main course, we tried few of the chef’s specialties:
â—† Dal Makhani : Rich and creamy dal makhni with a twist of sour cream mousse. The taste was a bit different but pretty good.
â—† Anda Curry – Pranked : Anda curry fans would definitely love this twisted recipe where the Anda doesn’t mean the boiled egg in the curry. It’s actually the omelette stuffed inside the “egg”. The flavor was intact and it went really well with the tawa parantha.
Desserts section has limited options but these are really the sweet surprises. Tried the Pranked Rose Kheer which was excellent in taste. Chef Harangad presented it in an awesome way by using the fresh roses soaked in nitrogen and then adding it to the kheer. Taste was divine and it was a perfect end to this lovely feast.
Verdict : Prankster is a beautiful place to be at. Lip smacking food and very lively aura makes it a perfect place to hangout with friends. It takes you back to the old times with its nostalgic interiors. A must try place for the people who loves innovative food. Recommended to all the fellow foodies in town.
