Gurugram has emerged as the city known for its nightlife and the pubs. Sector 29 has seen a lot of ups and downs in last few weeks due to the supreme court liquor ban but its again back with a bang. One such place in sector 29 market with a different kind of ambiance targeted for the specific audience is Chull – The Bar with a twist.
The place has a kinky vibe with the interiors which are beyond one’s imagination. The brand is curated for the targeted audience and is definitely not for everyone. The walls are decorated with CDs and the content which might not be of everyone’s liking. Quite Bold in what they are doing and expressing and for that reason this place will be either liked by the people to the fullest or it would be simply neglected 🙂
The place has a huge terrace which gives the lovely view for  the Sector 29. Quite spacious area they have which can easily host around 50-60 people. They have different seating options with an interesting theme. Lip shaped couches adds to the quirky theme which they are promoting.
Coming to the cocktails – The menu is very different from what you normally see at any bar. Fascinating menu with some unique names will surely make you think something else while you order. I tried few of the cocktails from the menu.
Reese – Tequila based drink with some orange brandy with a chocolate hint was not bad. The consistency could have been improved as it tasted differently when it was ordered again.
Mia K – A mix of Irish whisky and home made ginger juice. The drink was awesome.
Chumbak – The desi cocktail presented in a tumbler which looked awesome but the taste was disappointing. Again the issue with consistency of khus and cumin seeds ruined the show.
Sangria – Tried both red and white wine sangria. The quality of sangria was impressive and I loved both of these here.
Let’s talk about food now. Food at any such place is good or bad, it depends on the chef who curates the dishes for you. I must say Chef Jai Prakash (J.P.) has done a brilliant job to make the customers happy. Fantastic presentation and the lip smacking preparations did the trick and the food was much better than we expected.
Jaali (Nakli) Chicken : Basically the Achari soya chaap named as jaali chicken was soft and full of flavors.
Tandoori Jhaadiyan : Tandoori broccoli with the cream based marination was superb. Loved it to the core.
Chicken 69 – A well known dish from the south was well prepared by the chef. The taste was bang in with that perfect hint of curry leaves.
Pizza (Naanizza) : Loved this innovative naan based pizza which was delicious. Desi touch of this italian preparation was liked by the group. Butter chicken naanizza was the favourite for the day. Other than this, Their wood fried thin crust chicken pizza was damn good.
Butter Chicken : This one was the best pick of the day. Beautifully presented and flawlessly cooked butter chicken with the perfect blend of spices. The taste was pretty similar to what one can get at Moti Mahal in GK and that’s due to the experience chef JP carries with himself from that place. One should definitely try this at Chull.
Service was excellent and the food was served without any delay.
Verdict : Chull is more of an experience with some good food and not too bad drinks. There are events planned frequently like belly dance, poll dance events and Sufi nights. It’s a bold place with a shady aura and is not everyone’s cup of tea. Hit this place with these things in mind and you will not be disappointed.
