If you have been to Amritsar multiple times and have tried all the famous joints there, you can still visit this food heaven as the list for eateries is endless. While the old taste of Amritsar is still intact, there are many new food joints which has started in last few years. Being a foodie, the first thing which comes into my mind when I plan to go to my home in Amritsar is “Food“. The purpose of this post is to let the people know that there are many other things to try in Amritsar other than the famous joints about which one can easily find the details on the internet. I will not talk about Kesar da dhabha, Bharawan da dhabha, Kanha sweets, Giani tea stall, Makhan fish, Beera Chicken and many more. There is a lot to eat and I will list few of the hidden gems in this blog post. So, Here is the list of the joints which you should try when you are in the city of “Foodies”.
1) Lovely Sweets – This place is known for it’s excellent soya chaap. Located at the 100 feet road, the outlet serves the BBQ chaap with different variants. 3) Sabri Bhature Wala – Located on Queens road and known for their stuffed bhature with keema nutri, this is one of my favourite place to have bhature in amritsar. The preparation of nutri is awesome and the taste is consistent from so many years. The place was started from a road side eatery and now they have a proper restaurant on Queens road.
4) Monu Kulcha Hut – Located outside the city on the Loharka Road, This joint is famous for their Amritsari Kulcha. Though, it is quite away from the city but people don’t mind travelling to this place for their different taste of chole and Kulcha.
5) Hans Raj (Bhijja Kulcha & Mathi Chole) – Very old and famous shop on majitha road which is known for their Bhijja Kulcha and mathi chole. Served along with kachi Ambi and imli ki chutney, this is a perfect shop to have a value for money food. The Kulcha which is served here is not the Amritsari Kulcha but a special bread which is not easily available outside amritsar. So try this when you are in the holy city.
6) Pyara Lal Bhurji Wala – A famous and old shop near the telephone exchange in Amritsar is known for their Paneer Bhurji. Served along with bread, this is a delicious thing to have near to golden temple. It’s loaded with lots of butter which adds more taste to it. You can check the video on my YouTube channel. 16) Ashok Kumar Kulche Wala – When it comes to Amritsari Kulcha, I have a list of my favourites and this one is at the top. Located in the A block market of Ranjit Avenue, the place is known for their delicious Kulchas. Oval shaped Kulcha is his trademark and the taste is just “Wow”. If you love spicy ones, then ask for their “Seeti” kulcha (loaded with green chillies). I prefer not too spicy ones and the one which he serves normally is mildly spiced and not so heavy on stomach. Do give it a try when you are there next time.

You can get different chat items here too but my personal favourite item here is Bun Tikki which is basically aloo tikki cooked on tawa along with Bun and served along with imli ki chutney and pyaaz.
