Sarojini Nagar Market is the most famous market among the girls for the shopping. One can find a lot of variety to choose from along with a very pocket friendly prices. While you shop there is always need to have something to eat and when it comes to food, you have some local vendors and street food easily available. Here are few of the things you should try when in Sarojini Nagar.
- Tandoori Chicken at Amar Jyoti Restaurant – Located inside the Sarojini Nagar Market at Shop No 186, this place is being run by a sardar family from last 50 years. Known for their taste since ages, they procure their own masalas and have their secret recipes which is famous among the people visiting them. Tandoori chicken is a must try here.
- Keema Meat at Amar Jyoti Restaurant – Another gem from their menu is Keema Meat. Tender mutton cooked with aromatic Indian spices is a not to miss thing in Sarojini Nagar Market. They do have live tawa counter outside the restaurant in the evenings which was setup in 1965 and then the restaurant was started later on. Gurda Kaleji Kapoora, Magaz Masala and tawa chicken with Masala Kulchas are their specialties.
- Ram Ladoo – If you are a vegetarian, then you should definitely try the hot and soft ram ladoos from the street vendor outside the Kwik bitte. He serves the Ram Ladoo with tangy green chutney and mooli. He also does the Mirchi pakoda which is fantastic. Awesome thing to have in the busy lanes of the market.
- Sethi Juice Center – While you are tired and in need of some refreshing juice or cold coffee, then this place comes as a saviour. Known for their cold coffee and fresh juices, the place serves almost everything from shakes to the juices. The prices are comparativy higher but being located inside the market, it’s justified.
- Kala Khatta Chuski – Located next to the sethi juice center is the street vendor serving the Bombay famous Chuski. Kala Khatta chuski is the most try from this place. Reasonably priced at ₹30/-, this is lovely thing to have on a hot summer day.
- Amritsari Kulcha from Kulcha King – One of my favourite place for the crispy Amritsari Kulcha in Delhi. Located at Shop No 144 near the ring road and away from the Sarojini Nagar main market, this place is famous for their authentic Amritsari Kulchas. Reasonably priced and crispy Kulchas are very close to what we get in Amritsar. They do serve chaaps with rumali roti after 5PM which is quite famous among the crowd.
- Khandani Pakode wala – Located opposite to the Kulcha King near the ring road, this spot is known for the variety of pakodas. It’s a very old place famous for the Ram laddoos and assorted pakodas. It’s one of the most popular street food joint in the area. Few things to try at this place are Palak, Methi, Gobi and Paneer pakodas.
- Shahi Dahi Bhalla : This place serves one of the best dahi bhalle and chaat in this area. Whenever you are in Sarojini, Don’t forget to try some lip smacking stuff from this outlet which is located near to ring road.
